He Just Gets Cuter Every Day!

Cyrus has almost officially turned in his army crawl for the real thing! It's the cutest thing ever, he picks his arms up so much that he looks like a windmill. You'd think he'd try little steps, but he likes to be dramatic, and this way he gets that much more attention right? I tried to get it on video, but every time I got it out and tried to get him to crawl to me he crawled and cried, which made me smile, but is definitely not as cute as when he crawls and laughs. :) He followed me around the house all day, but didn't venture far into the kitchen. He likes to knock on the floor, but its too slippery for him to really get anywhere. He is also teething. He has a big bump on his bottom gum he hates to have touched, is drooling like a fountain, and it sounds like we've got awhile before it breaks. So, we're heading out to the store tonight to pick up some baby orajel, and we'll hope to have a few less nights of him waking up screaming. Poor kid, getting teeth must be super painful. And just think, this is only the first one. We still have an entire mouth to fill!

Trav's First Deer Hunt

Apparently hunting season is upon us! At least that's what our fridge and freezer would tell you if you took a peek inside. That may be more exciting to some than the apple juice and leftovers that were in there before, but this is still new to us. Travis officially went on his first deer hunt on opening day for rifles, and came home with his very first deer. Here's his story (in my words):

Travis met up with Brian (my bro-in-law) early Saturday morning to get a good early start hiking up the mountain. They had gotten sole permission from the landowners where brian's parents used to live to hunt, and were so excited because scouting out earlier they had seen deer up the mountain there. At noon Trav called to say after running up the mountain all morning they had eaten all their snacks and were starving and tired. Their solution? Travis called his uncle to see if any of his corn fields were uncut. Lucky for them, there was one left. So after coming in for lunch and to check on their babies, they headed out to the cornfield. A few hours later Travis had gotten a 3 x 4 cornfed buck and Brian got a deer of his own as well. It sounds a little like cheating to me, but they got to hunt the lazy way. Find a deer in a field, shoot it, throw it in the truck, and string it up on the tractor to gut it. But either way, he was VERY excited about getting his first deer, and was proud of the size.
Even though Cyrus is too small for his first hunt (and hopefully will be for awhile!) he did get outfitted for it. :)

Husband quirks? Where do I begin?

Rules: link the person that tagged you, mention these rules on your blog, tell 6 quirks of your siginficant other, and tag 6 fellow bloggers! Got it, lets go!

I was tagged by Rylee.

1. Travis is an extremely deep sleeper. I'm jealous because EVERYTHING wakes me up. Funny story... Our first year we were married we went to Yellowstone on vacation and around 3:00 there was a big bang, and he had rolled off the bed between the 2 queen beds in our room. I almost died laughing as he was sprawling around trying to get up. I helped him back up into bed and he went right to sleep. The next morning he commented, "I had the weirdest dream that I fell out of bed!" He sleeps like a log.
2. He loves cartoons. Old classics (Transformers, TMNT), asian drawn (I don't know the names of these) , adult (South Park, Family Guy, Aquateen, King of the Hill). For some reason animation just draws him right in. (Ha ha, that pun happened on its own)
3. He is extremely good with his hands, not a surprise that he's an electrician. He can do absolutely anything he puts his mind to. He got it from his dad. When he was younger, his dad built a semi-truck from the ground up. I don't know anyone who would even try that.
4. He wears about ten pairs of socks in the winter. I don't know how they even fit in his shoes.
5. He loves to read, but almost refuses to do it because when he starts a book he can't stop. He only starts books on vacations.
6. His head is full of random information, but he's a little random so I shouldn't be surprised. If you ever have a weird question, he is definitely the person to ask.

I love you, kid!

I tag: Lauren, Melissa, Kristen, and anyone else who would like to play. This was more fun than quirks about me! Nice thinking Rylee!

Who are you?

I'm a Alice! I found out through TwilightersAnonymous.com. Which Twilight Female Are You? Take the quiz and find out!
You are intelligent, outgoing & stylish. A true girly girl, you love shopping & makeovers. Although you are a generous friend, you can be coy, tricky & very persuasive in order to get your way. You are known to zone out occasionally during conversations, but your friends forgive you because you are understanding, supportive & know how to throw one heck of a party!
I don't know, does this sound like me? There's definitely some truth in it, although I hate to admit to zoning out during conversations! :)

Jaron's Blessing

My new nephew's baby blessing and a week's break from Primary! What a fun day. Does the suit look familiar? Amy loved Cyrus' suit so much that I made for his blessing, that we made one close to the same for Baby Jaron. We made him a bow tie and he borrowed Cyrus' shiny black shoes, and he looked adorable. He even waited to spit up on it until later in the day. :) It's always fun to go to church with the family. Cyrus especially loves it because he has so many people to play with, he just gets passed up and down the row, and each person has a different treat and fun new toys. It also makes it fun for me because I get to listen to the speakers and Travis likes it because he gets to sleep. Brian and Amy bore their testimonies, which were really sweet. I laughed when Brian said he loved this time of year because he was able to enjoy nature and seeing all of God's creations, then said he also loved that it was hunting season. Oxymoron? I thought so, but not being a hunter, I guess my opinion doesn't count as much. Afterward, we went to the park for lunch and were able to sit and chat and hang out with everyone. It was a fun weekend!
For those of you who don't know... this is my sister Amy, her husband Brian, and their little Jaron.

First and Last Visit to Bear Lake

Life has been a little crazy trying to get through the insurance mess and looking for a new car, so I didn't have time to upload these cute pics. Our very last road trip in my car while it was still in one piece was to Bear Lake. It was a warm enough day, so we thought we'd take advantage of Cyrus' swimsuit he hadn't been able to wear and head up to Bear Lake. The water was pretty cold, cold enough that I didn't even want to change into a swimsuit, so we just did a little wading. Cyrus wasn't quite sure about the water. He's still learning to like his baths, although now that he's figured out how to splash, it's getting a little better. The pictures should describe the story pretty well. He ended up liking the water until we let him sit down in it. Even then he wasn't bad until a wave hit rolled up his lap. Talk about a meltdown. But overall, we all had a good time. We weren't there long, and Cyrus mostly slept in the car, so Travis and I got to relax and have a nice long drive. It's fun to be able to be there with Cyrus while he tries out new things!

Another New Baby!?!

Our family just keeps growing...Haizlee is here! Tom and Jami had their little girl. She was a couple of weeks early, born on Wednesday night at 9:11 and she was 6 lbs 9 oz and 19 inches long. She's really cute, she reminds me a lot of Bryker. She does look more like Jami than Tom, but you can definitely tell they're brother and sister. :) It will be so different to have a little girl at Grandma Hobbs to hang out with the 2 little boys, but fun. It was an interesting week for me and Cyrus. We took turns with Jolene to watch Bryker, and really ended up having a good time. I was a little stressed out because we didn't have a chance to get the house as clean as I wanted before we had a soon-to-be-3 year old staying with us, but he was really good. We went for a lot of walks, and played outside a lot to get some extra energy out when the baby toys got boring, so Cyrus liked that. He loves to be outside. We went to lunch with Travis, and dinner with Jolene. Then on Saturday we went to the dinosaur park with my brother and his 3 kids. They all just ran around like the crazy kids they are, growling back at the dinosaurs, and having a ball. Bryker and Cyrus got along really well. I think he'll be an awesome big brother, he was so good with Cyrus, always trying to give him toys if he cried, and trying to play and laugh with him. (I should also mention, all he wanted to do while he was at our house was mop the floor. Ha ha, funny kid!) I especially liked it at night when we were winding the kids down by reading stories and saying prayers. Even though it was a little draining, it made me excited for when we get to a point where we might want another little baby. But for the next few years, so I can keep my sanity that much longer, I LOVE just having my baby Cyrus!

Time flies!

Cyrus just turned 6 months, so we've been trying out a few different foods. We tried to feed him the baby food "mac and cheese" (mostly because its not colored so it won't turn the carpet orange or green when he spits it back up!) and he was not impressed. He's a little picky for the age he is. You'd think if you were used to formula, rice, and apple juice, that you'd love to try something different, but Cyrus seems to like his comfort foods.

At his 6 month appointment, Dr. Allred gave Cyrus an A++. These are his stats:
Weight: 16 lbs 9 oz, 50th percentile
Height: 27" 75th percentile
So he's tall for his age, and even though he looks like he would be in the 90th in weight, he's pretty average. Maybe it's the big cheeks...

Also, for any of you who have babies, this is AWESOME! Cyrus has always been a little ball of energy. Since he was first born he liked being awake and checking out the world around him. He's very smart, which is a good and a bad thing. Good because you want your kids to be smart, bad because he gets bored with things very quickly. We have tried EVERYTHING to try to keep him occupied so I can get things done. He has gotten better now that he has a little army crawl so he can get to what he wants, but he loves this little jumpy. It has a harness-type thing that straps around them, so they have more freedom to move, and the bungy cord allows him to jump harder and higher. If any of you have the same issue, try it out. Its not much more than the cheaper johnny jumps, and he'll play contentedly in this long enough to let me get the house picked up without him trying to help me. :)
