Quirky!

Cyrus is almost 21 months old! I can't believe it! Just for fun I thought I'd post some of the quirkier things he does now. He loves to have his picture taken and loves to say "cheese!" with a big scrunched up face.
He likes to have his bed filled with blankets and stuffed animals. I don't quite understand it although Trav says he'd do it if he could. "think how warm and cozy it would be!" Whatever.

Cyrus was really sick for awhile. He had an ear infection and bronchitis which turned to tracheitis and he couldn't breathe. Poor kid. He loves his blankets so much and was so tired he'd lay down on them wherever he could find a spot. Even the kitchen floor.

His favorite snack is chips. One day trav left a bag of his favorite chips downstairs and after a few minutes of too much quiet I peeked in at him and found this. Asleep with his hand in the chips.

Like I said he loves his blankets. He puts them over his head in the car too sleep.
I don't have a picture for it, but he loves dip. Mostly ketchup, but he's not too picky as long as he can dip his food. He spent almost 30 minutes after we were done eating spearing each kernel of corn on his fork and dipping it in his ketchup. I don't know where he came from, I hate ketchup!

And who knew this is what you were supposed to do with stickers! We love our silly little guy! He definitely keeps us entertained!

Fall Catch Up

I know, I know we're a bit behind. But I'll do my best to catch everyone up...

First Halloween!
We love Halloween! My grandma always has a big party and she makes tons of different homemade soups and bread (she is an awesome cook!) and all the kids dress up and go trick-or-treating. This year we were just going to dress Cyrus up in some biker clothes, but he learned to talk like a monster so I had to make him a monster costume. A little insane starting a costume 4 days before Halloween when you have as much time as I have, but he was so cute as a wild thing! And he was nice and warm being in his costume all night :) He growled and talked like a monster all night! So cute!

We have the best leaves at our house in the fall. Not so fun to rake up and get rid of, but all the kids love them! This year all the neighbor kids came to help me rake/play and had a ball! Thanks guys!
Thanksgiving...always fun, we get to have lunch with my family and dinner with Trav's which is so much better than having on and off years. I made rolls and pies, the rolls were awesome, but I think I'm giving up on pies. Not my thing. Cyrus loved it because my family completely spoils him. He played with my cousin Jodi all day, who is one of his favorites, and she let him have whatever he wanted. Fun for him, not so much for me since all he wanted was pickles. Yep, pickles. I think he ate about 20 of the small uncut dill pickles. Nothing else, just pickles. He stunk like pickles for 2 days! Yikes!

Then at the Hobbs he got to help grandma snap the beans. He spent almost an hour saying "snap, snap." Luckily grandma bought enough beans he could ruin a few.

Update with Pics

Cyrus is now 18 months old and started Nursery! Yay! He's been transitioning really well, and it's so nice to be able to do things without running around after him!
We went camping with some of our good friends the weekend of Peach Days and had so much fun, minus all the dust! Cyrus likes to run and fall too much to stay clean for long.

We also went to the duck pond to feed the ducks. It was fun. Cyrus' favorite part wasn't feeding the ducks, but luring them in so he could stomp out into the water and scare them all away. Thats what I get for having a little boy! :)

We went to the zoo one day with Amy, Rach, and Jaron and Cyrus spent most of his time with his auntie Rachael. He loved making noises for the all the animals. This was his pig face. It's my favorite!

My little monkey. He wasn't happy until he climbed up as far as he could on the lion statues.

The best part was the quiet drive home!

Cyrus has always had a ton of energy, and here's a good example of trying to get ready for bed. I put this in just for you Gav since you like to see Cyrus jump!

Always Running, Running, Running!

I can't believe it's been so long since we've updated our blog! We thought our life was crazy during the summer, but change always comes...

Travis started school again this fall. That means Tuesday and Thursday are shot with work til 5, school til 9, then work again till 11. Long days!

He was also called to be the secretary in the Young Mens, which he is so excited about, but then there goes our Wednesday...

I work during the day while Cyrus sleeps, then Monday, Wednesday, Friday nights and Saturdays, leaving us Sudays free to fill with church, family, and friends.

Add in Primary meetings, side jobs (Yay for christmas money), and family activities... Not much time for cleaning the house or laundry, so we'll see how that works out!!

We have been having a lot of fun in our spare time, ha ha, so I'll download some pics and post as soon as possible!

Going Potty? Already?

Cyrus has pooped in the potty 3 times in the last 2 days! Yay! He's so proud of himself, he claps and claps. He's started telling me when he needs to go and he really likes sitting there. What a boy huh? He's only 16 months old, so I'm not going to start pushing it for a bit, but I like the road we're on! How awesome would it be to have no more diapers to change?! On the other hand, does that mean we have to consider starting over with another one? Yikes! I'm not sure we should push him just yet! :)
By the way, the picture has nothing to do with the post, I just thought it was so cute! He loved Jessica's fainting goats!

Our Tribute to Michael Jackson!
May his dance moves last forever!

Big Summer Catch UP!

The 4th of July!

The Summer is almost over, and we've been so busy there's a lot to catch up on! We had a really fun 4th. Cyrus is so much older than last year, and he absolutely loved it. Especially the fireworks. He couldn't decide who to sit with because he wanted to make sure everyone thought it was as cool as he did! Funny kid.

Bear Lake!

We were also able to go up to Bear Lake with some of our good friends, and it was so much fun! Cyrus didn't mind the cold water too much, but he hated the waves. He mostly liked playing in the puddle of warm water. Travis and Spence spent most of the time digging a giant hole and playing catch with cups. I'm not sure if boys ever grow up! :)

The Cancer Walk!

In July we also had the Cancer Walk. We made Cyrus a really cute pink shirt that said, "I wear pink for my Grandma." And when I say made, I mean made. We could not find a boys pink shirt anywhere (Suprise suprise!) so we found a white one, dyed it pink, and made a really cute little iron on. It turned out more of a hot pink than light pink like I was expecting, but he looked really cute in it. We always have a lot of fun at the walk, and Cyrus loved playing with all the kids there. I posted pics of our night, and had to add the one of Jami holding Cyrus and Haizlee because it was so cute!

Father's Day Weekend

First, I wanted to wish a belated father's day to all the guys reading this. We had a fabulous fathers day weekend. On Friday, Travis took the day off and we spent the day with my family. We first went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house. It was a beautiful day, and it was really fun to see the temple with my family. Everyone was able to come but my brother and his family since they have a brand new baby. My parents are very knowledgable about church stuff, so it was fun to hear the things they had to say about everything there. After our tour we had lunch, then hurried off to the Manti pageant. I was afraid it would be a really long drive for poor Cyrus, but he'd gotten the majority of his energy out at the temple and after filling up at lunch, he was exhausted and slept the entire way there. The pageant is always really fun. We had lots of treats and played games while we were waiting. We drove home late that night after it was over. Trav and I were in the front (he's a bit more of an aggressive driver than everyone else, ha ha) and we saw so many deer in the canyon we were afraid someone might hit one behind us. As it turns out, my parents and grandma made it all the way to bountiful before a deer ran into them on the freeway! I couldn't believe it. He ran into the side of the blazer, but besides scaring the crap out of my mom and grandma, all he left behind was a little blood where he bounced off! My dad didn't even wake up!

Then on Saturday we had planned on the grandkids taking my dad out on a date for fathers day. Its always hard to shop for him, and he absolutely loved spending the day with all the kids. We went to the zoo, and if you remember it rained most of the day, but we still had a blast. Cyrus was enchanted with the monkeys. He laughed and laughed as they ran around in front of him. It was really fun to spend so much time with my family!

Grandma's New Grass!

27 Pallets of grass (14,000 sq ft) later, and Grandma Hobbs has a real lawn!!

It was soooo much work to get this done. We all worked our butts off to finish this up, and were so thankful for all the help we had. There's still quite a bit of landscaping to do, but were getting closer every day we're able to work on it! And in the meantime we're also having a lot of fun. Jolene bought a riding mower and it's a good thing with as much grass as she ended up with. We all tried it out to make sure it worked. :) The kids are all so lucky to have such an awesome grandma! She is so good with them, and loves to really get down and play with them. Lucky for Cyrus all of his grandma's are like that, so he is really blessed and loved!
Funny after all that grass, the kids want to play in the dirt! Boys will be boys!

Cyrus has loved being able to help out his daddy so much. He loves tools. What a surprise. He is his daddy's son! He even purses his lips the same way when he's working!

Here's a couple of pics from our day at the dinosaur park last week with our friends for the twins' first outing. All the kids disappeared at one point with Nicole, and I found them inside the giant dinosaur head playing in the sand. So cute. Cyrus loves all his friends, and even though they are all older than him, they play SO well with him. They all consider him a little brother, and they are all his favorites!

Last week Cyrus wasn't feeling very well. He hadn't slept well or eaten well, so when he started up a cough we decided we should take him into the doctor. He ended up having 2 ear infections, a sinus infection, bronchitis, and pink eye! Poor kid! I didn't know kids this small could even have that much wrong at once! But now with some antibiotics he's feeling a lot better, and is back to wanting to spend all his time outside. He's getting a cute little tan. :)

It's Summer!

Summer for us so far has meant:

More outside play.
More bravery!

And a lot more of wanting to play outside, which means more of this...

You gotta love summertime!

Go, Go, Go!

We have been ridiculously busy the last few weeks, so haven't taken many pictures. Travis has spent hours at his moms house putting in a sprinkling system and getting her yard leveled out so we could lay 14,000 sq ft. of sod! It took 3 days and LOTS of help, but looks absolutely awesome! I'm so excited for the kids to have somewhere to play thats softer than a floor filled with sticker weeds! Cyrus loved being outside for 3 straight days playing in the dirt. Give him a little shovel and he was good to go for hours. He loves the outside.

He's getting so big! He's still learning new things everyday. He loves to sing. Mostly "Once there was a snowman" and his favorite part is swaying back and forth, then putting his little hands that just reach over his big head and singing "ta, ta, ta!" My favorite part is when he melts. He makes a cute little puddle! :)

He also loves rocks, hugs, humming, and dancing. He hates tuna fish, long tickly grass, and hills (he tends to just roll right down them!)

He is also getting a strong personality! He had his first real kicking and screaming tantrum because he wanted to go outside, and I wouldn't take him because he'd just taken a bath. But he is extremely obedient, and after sitting in the corner for a minute he stopped. He's had a few since then (usually in the grocery store unfortunately!) but is still pretty good for his age. I also rarely get past 1 or 2 before he decides to listen. Lets hope that doesn't change!

Spring Catch Up

Happy Easter!

Easter was so fun for us! Saturday night I put some eggs out for Cyrus to find, and in the morning we took him in the living room and he was so excited to find the eggs. He was cute. Babies make holidays so much more fun! This was actually Cyrus' second Easter. Some of you may remember we were in the hospital with Cyrus over Easter and had the Easter bunny visit us there. How time flies!

For those of you who keep up with our blog regularly, we have been extremely busy this month. We went from Travis having no job and winter, to spring and all that comes with the nice weather. We are working with Travis' mom to get her a sprinkling system and lawn after 12 years of dirt and weeds, which is going to be awesome for her. I was made the second counselor in the Primary, and am glad to have Sunday over when I did my first sharingtime and we spoke in Sacrament. It all went well, but is always nice to have it finished. :)
And I passed my test! Hooray! On the 2 sections of the test I received a 95 and 86, which is good enough to pass, but I am also going to retake the lower score to see how much better I can do. It is nice to know I passed, and am getting that much closer to working at home. Yay! And it's so nice to have the nice weather here!
Cyrus and I just spent the morning blowing bubbles in the backyard, then spent some time with one of my awesome friends on their trampoline. Cyrus loved it, and it completely wore him out. He fell asleep in the stroller on the way home which he hasn't done since he was a baby. And he's still asleep!
Anyway, I wanted to share a few of the pictures we've taken. As I looked through the camera I noticed most of our pictures are messy eating ones since he's been wanting to be more independent, and learning to really use his forks and spoons. He also really loves to help his dad. He tried on his shoes and tried to help him put together my desk. He's getting so big and fun! And most people say kids turn into terrors when they start walking but I love it! He's so adorable following us around everywhere.

Happy Day!

Happy Birthday Cyrus!
Cyrus turned one on March 21st, so we had the family over and had a little party for him. After going a few nights without sleep, we ended up taking Cyrus in to the doctor that day and found out he had an ear infection. It was a little sad he had to be sick on his birthday, but after some medicine and a nap, he was feeling a lot better, so we decided to go ahead with his party. I made him a potato head cake, and we had fruit cookies, cupcakes, and ice cream. He loved all of his toys and clothes, and we were glad most of our family was able to come and spend the evening with us.
You can tell he still wasn't feeling 100%, he has this exact same face in most of his pictures. This was one of my favorite little outfits I was able to find for him.
Travis helped him blow out his candle.
He was pretty excited about his cake. I thought he would devour it, but he wasn't used to being able to eat like that. I guess that's what we get for trying to teach him to eat without making a big mess.

After only a few bites, he was really worried about his sticky hands, and was ready to be cleaned up. :)
We had an awesome week. Travis was able to find a job! Hallelujah! After nearly 3 months of unemployment we were all ready for it. He started his first day yesterday, and really enjoys it. I also was able to take my final test last week after almost 2 years of schooling. I won't find out my score for another week, but hope I did well enough to find a nice job working at home. I'm really looking forward to being a good mom, and keeping busy at home making some extra mula!
