Cancer Walk

This was our third year being involved in the Cancer Walk in Brigham City. Jolene is part of the team for the hospital, and we just go tag along and walk with her when its her turn. Things were a little more laid back this year, so we had more time to just hang out. Bryker and Cyrus were definitely the hit of the party, everyone Jolene knew (which is a lot of people!) got to be introduced to her two cute grandsons. Her friend Jill from the hospital was there too with her 3 cute girls, and those are the girls in the pictures. They just love the boys. We weren't able to stay all night, Cyrus got grumpy and was ready to go home and go to bed at about 12:30, but we were there long enough to have some dinner and fun. The ceremony was really nice, and every year before they light the bags, we do a little switching around so Brad and Jolene can be next to each other when they're lit. Jolene made sure to put pictures of "beep beep" on there for Bryker. He was very excited when we showed him they were there. We also bought some glow sticks for the kids. They loved them, and it was perfect for us so we could keep track of where they were. All except Cyrus, this year he was pretty easy to keep track of. I'm sure next year will be different. It's nice to be able to do something for cancer since it's been such a big thing in Travis' family. I hope the money raised will be enough to help other people who have to go through it as well. Here are some of the pictures from the evening.

4 Months Old!

Well, Cyrus is officially 4 months old. He's growing up so fast I feel like I can't keep up with him. He learned to roll over a few weeks ago (I'll try to upload the video) and I think he learns something new every day. I try to work on teaching him something new during the week so he can show off to our families when we go visit on the weekends. Its fun, nothing real major. Last week he learned how to hold his bottle by himself (that will be a sad day when he feeds himself completely. I love taking that time out of the day to hold him and feed him!) and he can put his bop back in his mouth now, which is awesome. He was always really good at taking it out. :)

He had his 4 month doctors appointment last Wednesday and is doing very well. He was 13 pounds 3 oz and almost 25 inches long. Everything was perfect and right at average according to Dr. Allred's charts, and he was just on the high average on height. He also said he is above average on everything else. He can roll over both ways, and is awesome with his motor skills. Dr. Allred said if he wasn't so small he'd think he was 6 months old not 4. He communicates and comprehends like a 6 month old. I was a proud mom. That puts him right on target to be the star athlete the doc is convinced he's going to be. He's guessing the star pitcher or quarterback...personally I'd rather see him with a baseball aimed at his head than being tackled. :)

Then came the sad part... the shots. Luckily this time he has chunked out, so with the help of fatter legs and dosing him up before (thanks Miranda and Spencer for the advice!) he only cried for a minute then went to sleep, which seems to be his way of dealing with tragedy. If only that worked for all of us!

4th of July Weekend

Cyrus was so excited that it was the 4th of July! His hair is just getting long enough to have a mohawk (it's really light so it's hard to see) but it was sooooo cute. We got up early and went to the ward breakfast then went up to visit our family and meet Travis since he'd gotten up to go fishing.

This is me and Cyrus at the fireworks. He loved them, all the bright colors and noises kept his attention even though he was tired and ready for bed.

This is my cute sister Liz and my cousins.
My sister Amy and her crazy husband Brian. She's due in 6 weeks and is definitely starting to feel it.

This is my brother Ben and his wife Johanna and 2 of their kids, Noelia and Jason.

Here's Travis and Cyrus (Trav forgot to fix his hair before we left :) )

And here's Cyrus at the end of the night. He was so tired he didn't even move when I pulled him out of his chair to put him in bed. It was a really long day, but we all had a really good time. I love being able to spend time with my family.

On Saturday we were able to spend some time with Travis' family. We all got together and went to the Dinosaur park then had a little barbecue. We had a really good time at the dinosaur park. It was the first time we'd been able to spend much time in the new museum and there's some really cool stuff in there. Travis and Tom were distracted by all the rocks for awhile (Rocks?! You can really only spend so much time looking at rocks. I think they got it from their dad.)

This is Cyrus' grandma Hobbs. She absolutely loves him and is always excited to spend time with him. They're funny to watch together. He even smiled at her in the hospital while he was asleep so she likes to rub it in that she saw his first smile.

This is Cyrus' cousin Bryker. They get along pretty well considering that he's the only child too. But only until October!

This is Cyrus' sun hat. Isn't it cute!
This is Travis' brother Tom and sister in law Jami. See how she's hiding behind the stroller? She's due in October and thinks she's getting huge although luckily she's still pretty small.

Mostly Cyrus

Well, it looks like it's begun. We've given into peer pressure (and the chance to show off our super cute baby) and decided to start a blog. This is a new deal for us, so I'm going to try to keep it simple to begin with and we'll see where it takes us.

I also want to make sure to warn you in advance; as soon as we had our little Cyrus a new life began, so you're going to see a lot about him. Our blog should probably be called "mostly Cyrus", but I'll try to put me and Travis in here and there as well.
