Father's Day Weekend

First, I wanted to wish a belated father's day to all the guys reading this. We had a fabulous fathers day weekend. On Friday, Travis took the day off and we spent the day with my family. We first went to the Oquirrh Mountain Temple open house. It was a beautiful day, and it was really fun to see the temple with my family. Everyone was able to come but my brother and his family since they have a brand new baby. My parents are very knowledgable about church stuff, so it was fun to hear the things they had to say about everything there. After our tour we had lunch, then hurried off to the Manti pageant. I was afraid it would be a really long drive for poor Cyrus, but he'd gotten the majority of his energy out at the temple and after filling up at lunch, he was exhausted and slept the entire way there. The pageant is always really fun. We had lots of treats and played games while we were waiting. We drove home late that night after it was over. Trav and I were in the front (he's a bit more of an aggressive driver than everyone else, ha ha) and we saw so many deer in the canyon we were afraid someone might hit one behind us. As it turns out, my parents and grandma made it all the way to bountiful before a deer ran into them on the freeway! I couldn't believe it. He ran into the side of the blazer, but besides scaring the crap out of my mom and grandma, all he left behind was a little blood where he bounced off! My dad didn't even wake up!

Then on Saturday we had planned on the grandkids taking my dad out on a date for fathers day. Its always hard to shop for him, and he absolutely loved spending the day with all the kids. We went to the zoo, and if you remember it rained most of the day, but we still had a blast. Cyrus was enchanted with the monkeys. He laughed and laughed as they ran around in front of him. It was really fun to spend so much time with my family!

Grandma's New Grass!

27 Pallets of grass (14,000 sq ft) later, and Grandma Hobbs has a real lawn!!

It was soooo much work to get this done. We all worked our butts off to finish this up, and were so thankful for all the help we had. There's still quite a bit of landscaping to do, but were getting closer every day we're able to work on it! And in the meantime we're also having a lot of fun. Jolene bought a riding mower and it's a good thing with as much grass as she ended up with. We all tried it out to make sure it worked. :) The kids are all so lucky to have such an awesome grandma! She is so good with them, and loves to really get down and play with them. Lucky for Cyrus all of his grandma's are like that, so he is really blessed and loved!
Funny after all that grass, the kids want to play in the dirt! Boys will be boys!

Cyrus has loved being able to help out his daddy so much. He loves tools. What a surprise. He is his daddy's son! He even purses his lips the same way when he's working!

Here's a couple of pics from our day at the dinosaur park last week with our friends for the twins' first outing. All the kids disappeared at one point with Nicole, and I found them inside the giant dinosaur head playing in the sand. So cute. Cyrus loves all his friends, and even though they are all older than him, they play SO well with him. They all consider him a little brother, and they are all his favorites!

Last week Cyrus wasn't feeling very well. He hadn't slept well or eaten well, so when he started up a cough we decided we should take him into the doctor. He ended up having 2 ear infections, a sinus infection, bronchitis, and pink eye! Poor kid! I didn't know kids this small could even have that much wrong at once! But now with some antibiotics he's feeling a lot better, and is back to wanting to spend all his time outside. He's getting a cute little tan. :)

It's Summer!

Summer for us so far has meant:

More outside play.
More bravery!

And a lot more of wanting to play outside, which means more of this...

You gotta love summertime!

Go, Go, Go!

We have been ridiculously busy the last few weeks, so haven't taken many pictures. Travis has spent hours at his moms house putting in a sprinkling system and getting her yard leveled out so we could lay 14,000 sq ft. of sod! It took 3 days and LOTS of help, but looks absolutely awesome! I'm so excited for the kids to have somewhere to play thats softer than a floor filled with sticker weeds! Cyrus loved being outside for 3 straight days playing in the dirt. Give him a little shovel and he was good to go for hours. He loves the outside.

He's getting so big! He's still learning new things everyday. He loves to sing. Mostly "Once there was a snowman" and his favorite part is swaying back and forth, then putting his little hands that just reach over his big head and singing "ta, ta, ta!" My favorite part is when he melts. He makes a cute little puddle! :)

He also loves rocks, hugs, humming, and dancing. He hates tuna fish, long tickly grass, and hills (he tends to just roll right down them!)

He is also getting a strong personality! He had his first real kicking and screaming tantrum because he wanted to go outside, and I wouldn't take him because he'd just taken a bath. But he is extremely obedient, and after sitting in the corner for a minute he stopped. He's had a few since then (usually in the grocery store unfortunately!) but is still pretty good for his age. I also rarely get past 1 or 2 before he decides to listen. Lets hope that doesn't change!
